Truth About DAisies

We are Truth About Daisies

Based out of Portland, Maine, TRUTH ABOUT DAISIES has been playing Southern Maine venues, concert series, and festivals for the past 14 years. The songwriters and core of the band are husband and wife team Doug Swift and Sheila McKinley.

Truth About Daisies' eclectic original sound highlights vocal harmonies accompanied by a warm mix of mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and electric and acoustic guitars. Many of Sheila's songs are inspired by her years of growing up in Texas, infused with themes of family and imagery of the south. Doug's songs are more upbeat and rhythm driven and tell stories reminiscent of his midwest roots.

Vocals, Guitar, harmonicas: Sheila McKinley

Truth About Daisies has performed in different incarnations from a duo to a quintet. The original band was comprised of Sheila McKinley and Doug Swift with Ronda Dale on bass, Dan Sonenberg on drums, and Elizabeth Burd on percussion and harmony from 2004 to 2009. The band released their first self titled CD in 2007 as a quintet to positive reviews.

Truth About Daisies' soon to be released second CD, Love This Life, represents their more acoustic sound over the past 7 years, since the band has mostly played as a trio with Ronda Dale on bass and harmony.

With a close group of musician friends and previous band mates, Truth About Daisies may be seen performing in various lineups with former and guest musicians.

by Truth About Daisies

This album represents the songs and shows we've been playing mostly as a trio with Ronda Dale. We had many collaborators including drummer Dan Sonenberg, cellist Robin Jellis, slide guitarist Joe Muir, and vocalist Liam Swift. Also a big thanks to Steve Drown who recorded most of the songs and mixed and mastered the CD at The Studio.
